Welcome to Firetail Birdwatching tours in the north of the State of Victoria, Australia. Your birding guide, Simon Starr, and his family (wife Alexandra, Rosemary and Arran ) invite you to explore the fantastic diversity of birds and their habitats found in the region.

Based near Pyramid Hill some 225kms north of Melbourne we are well positioned to access many of the best birding areas in the state. We are easily reached by road or rail and can provide details of services from Melbourne to our local station where we can arrange free pick-up. Our tours are based on genuine local knowledge of the birds and the broader environment and cover the mallee country, the northern plains and wetlands of the Murray Valley, plus the Box-Ironbark country of central Victoria.

We cater for casual or beginner birdwatchers keen to explore new horizons, through to the serious birder who wants to find the rarest species.

Every tour is custom designed to best fit current seasonal conditions and your own personal interests and preferences. Birding can start at dawn and finish at dusk if required. Our aim is to give you the best experience possible. Our tours are conducted in a relaxed and informal way, come and enjoy some great birding with a friendly host who knows his patch.
